All About Me!

As an educator, I believe it is key to contribute to a classroom environment that is safe, collaborative, motivating, and consistent. I have always felt that my strengths lie in my commitment to and engagement with the learners in my classroom. I believe that for any learning to take place, students need to feel safe and connected in their environment. One way to do this ties into classroom management. Rather than exclusively relying on rewards vs. punishment, teachers and students can collaboratively set expectations and boundaries for the class to reach a mutual understanding of rights and responsibilities. I am a strong proponent of Differentiated Instruction based in students’ own inquiry and curiosity. It is important to me to allow students to feel a sense of ownership and agency in terms of their learning, and provide them with multiple points of entry so that every learner has the opportunity to access and build upon their unique strengths and learning styles.
